Why walkways matter more than you think
In Ontario, homeowners have a legal duty to keep their property reasonably safe for visitors — including delivery drivers, mail carriers, and guests. Slip-and-fall injuries on icy residential paths are among the most common winter liability claims in the province. Municipal bylaws in Durham Region also require sidewalks fronting your property to be cleared within set timeframes after a snowfall.
For older residents and anyone with mobility challenges, an icy step isn’t an inconvenience — it’s the difference between getting out of the house and being stuck inside. Many of our walkway customers are adult children arranging service for parents who insist they can manage the driveway but shouldn’t be touching icy steps.
Bundled or standalone
Most customers bundle walkway clearing with driveway service — the crew is already on-site, so bundled pricing is lower than either service alone. Standalone walkway service is popular for townhomes, seniors’ residences, and small rental properties where the parking area is managed separately.
How it works
Same trigger system as our driveway service: when snowfall passes the threshold, we clear automatically under seasonal contracts, or on request for per-visit customers. Steps are shoveled by hand — never scraped with metal blades that damage wood and composite surfaces.
